How does laser technology remove rust?
When the laser beam is aimed at the surface, a large amount of its energy is transferred to the focused material. If the energy is greater than the ablation threshold of the material, the material will sublime or vaporize. This reaction is called laser ablation and is used to remove contaminants and oxides.
The ablation threshold of oxides is much lower than that of most base metals. Therefore, we can adjust the laser parameters to remove oxides without damaging the surface. Different types of oxides have different ablation thresholds. For example, the light orange oxide and black oxide generated near the welding area have a lower erosion threshold than the laminated junction ab layer, so they can be removed more quickly. In fact, most oxides can be quickly removed by the laser head at a time.
